Since the start of the school year, I've been accumulating a plant collection, and since I'm living on campus over the summer, I've been tasked to babysit some of my friends' plants, too. Here they all are, lined up on my makeshift windowsill in MacGregor.

I lined them up like elementary schoolers in a class photo, with the short ones close the window, so that every plant can see the sun. Here are some close-ups so that you can see the ones in front:

#1. cactus! I got this in the fall around Halloween season because the pot was cute and I wanted an excuse to grow my plant collection, but this pot has given me so much grief, because it's so shallow that sometimes the plastic pot inside falls out, and then the cactus falls out, and then I have to repot it but it's a cactus so ow ow ow
#2. this succulent belongs to my friend Anthony, who definitely was on track to killing it ("I didn't know you had to water succulents") before I intervened. my friends and I got succulents from one of Panhel's socials, where they were handing these out in front of the Stud!
#3. this is the succulent that I got from Panhel (see #2), which I named Testudo and repotted into a turtle shaped pot that I got from my friend’s high school graduation party—she’s going to UMD, so it’s like the mascot. roll terps!
#4. a little succulent my friend Sophia got from Terrascope! it's so fuzzy and such a cute baby plant.
#5. this is my favorite and first plant and her name is Meg! she's a succulent I got from my first REX event (held by EC, where we got succulents and painted the containers). my high school friends also got succulents at the beginning of the year, so we named ours all after the sisters from Little Women. Meg has sort of duplicated since the beginning of the year and grown two heads, she's so gorgeous and healthy. plus I'm pretty proud of the plastic pot, which I painted with a landscape with skies and stars and oceans and fish.
#6. a succulent which belongs to my friend Rachel (see #2)
#7. this is a dragonfruit cactus and it is so cute. it has been growing so beautifully so far!
#8. a spider plant! I've heard these grow really fast and out of control so hopefully this is still manageable after the summer...
#9. this is a pilea plant which belongs to Sophia! It's really cute and I might get one after the summer, because I've read they like indirect sunlight and my usual room is perfect for that. I'm actually kind of worried for it this summer, though, because my room in MacGregor gets a LOT of direct sunlight.
#10. this is a mica plant I think, and it also belongs to Sophia! it's really tall, and I'm excited to see it grow more!
#11. this is another succulent my friend got for me from some grocery store, and I named it Milla
Before this year I have never really successfully grown plants, so hopefully these all survive the summer. I'm looking to add to my collection soon with an orchid/other type of flower and some edible plants like mint or tomatoes... we'll see :)
