“Dusting” Cards

When a player dusts a card, they physically return it to the game organizer and receive a predetermined number of points based on the card's rarity and strategic value. These points can then be saved and used toward purchasing new booster packs.

Common cards (2-10) yield 1 point, face cards (J, Q) yield 2 points, and powerful cards (K, A) yield 3 points when dusted. Cards being dusted must be in playable condition.

Note: "Dusting" is borrowed from digital card games where unwanted cards are converted into resources to acquire new ones.

Basic Dusting Values

- Common cards (number cards 2-10): 1 point - Uncommon cards (Queens, Jacks): 2 points - Rare cards (Kings, Aces): 3 points

Optional Refinements

You could also consider these variations to add more strategy to your economy:
  1. Suit Bonuses : Give +1 point when dusting cards from less common suits in your collection (encourages diversification)

  2. Bulk Dusting : Offer a small bonus when dusting multiple cards at once, like +1 point when dusting 5+ cards

  3. Weekend Rates : Occasionally offer "double dust" events where cards can be dusted for twice their normal value

This approach gives back roughly 25-30% of a card's "new" value, which aligns with most established card games and prevents point inflation while still giving players meaningful returns on unwanted cards.
