1st Cork Capital Newsletter - Just a few links

Hey folks,

I’ve always wanted to start a newsletter, but I kept getting hung up on the format and writing. So, I’m just going to do what I’ve always done… send a few links. Usually, I send these directly to friends because they remind me of something they’d like, but I thought it would be fun to expand that and do it more consistently. These are things that help me think, and I hope they’ll do the same for you. I like curious things and connecting dots, but I’m more interested in pondering than in arriving at conclusions. I like wondering why things are the way they are and seeing if that sparks something else. Most of this comes from conversations, podcasts, reading, questions from my kids, time in coffee shops, and just engaging with the world around me. Starting August 15th, 2025, I’ll be sending out a weekly email called Just a Few Links. As the name suggests, it will be a handful of links: articles, products, podcasts, pictures - anything that makes me think, this needs to be shared. Some will overlap with my work. Some won’t. Some will be niche, others more general. I'm sending this out because I believe you can be a better person, investor, parent, friend, leader, doctor, dog walker - whatever - if you’re inspired and pushed to think. And inspiration tends to come from places you don’t expect. If you’d rather not follow along, just hit reply and let me know to take you off the list. Also, this launch lines up with me starting something new! I’m joining a great group of people building homes in the community where I grew up, Knoxville, TN. The company’s been around for over 40 years and has several complementary businesses. I’ll be helping manage their existing real estate funds and raising a new one, Jackson Peak, focused on single-family rental homes in Knoxville and Chattanooga. It’s technically a shift from my recent work, but really it’s still about connecting the right people with the right resources at the right time. With this team's support, I will continue work on a few projects: advisory, business building, and hopefully investing along the way. More to come on all fronts but I will likely sprinkle in a few updates about that journey, too. I’m excited to help provide more homes for people I care about and work with a great group of folks along the way.  Now, onto the links:
